The Arts, when utilised skillfully, have the transformative power to change lives, inspire, challenge, mobilise individuals and communities to act, and create a positive impact in the world.Currently in each country there are Teaching Artists contributing effectively to address the most complex risks of their communities in the face of our major global challenges.
Able to activate, develop and guide the artistic potential of each person towards positive results, they are the workforce that practices teaching artistry as a catalyst for personal, cultural, and social transformation.
Despite the significant local success of their work, they face many challenges in making their valuable impact visible, accessing professional development opportunities, connecting with colleagues, and achieving the global recognition they deserve. The International Teaching Artists Collaborative (ITAC) seeks a future in which teaching artists play an even more active role in society—where they have seats at the table in key policy discussions, and where their capacity for transformative activism is fully realised.
Our communities need them; Teaching Artists and this movement needs support from all of us. Your contribution will go 100% towards supporting our programs and mission to create new spaces to connect the international community of Teaching Artists, provide them with more development opportunities, and create more innovative projects.
By supporting Teaching Artists, you are also contributing to the development of a more creative, engaged, and informed society.
Written by the man frequently described as “the father of the teaching artist profession,” Making Change shines a light on this powerful global workforce that is largely invisible but astoundingly effective.
Learn how Teaching Artists can activate anyone’s innate artistry to achieve a wide variety of positive goals. Enjoy stories about the surprising impact of their partnerships in health, government, education, corporations, environmentalism, social justice, and peacebuilding.
This inspiring book will leave readers — both inside and outside of the arts — with an awareness of new possibilities for shaping a better world.
