Madeleine McGirk is the Managing Director of ITAC and is based in Scotland. She works alongside the Leadership Committee and everyone in our network to support, facilitate and coordinate all of our activities. This includes assisting in the delivery of the groundbreaking ITAC conferences held biennially (most recently in 2018 at Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center NYC). She coordinates international partnership projects, network development, attends/presents at international arts education conferences and organises regular development opportunities for the network.

Madeleine is the former Executive Director of the Scottish European Educational Trust (SEET), a national educational organisation based in Scotland which works to encourage international education and language learning through innovative practices. She initially joined SEET to lead their citizenship in film making initiative, which utilises arts based approaches to learning to facilitate self expression and multilingual storytelling.

With a background in Theatre and Film, Madeleine still performs as an Actor, primarily focusing on new writing and contemporary work. She is a graduate of the University of Glasgow with an MA (hons) in Theatre and Film, and during her studies spent a year training at the University of Illinois. She also holds an HSK2 in Mandarin Chinese. Madeleine is passionate about her work in the arts and education, and committed to furthering international connectivity in our field and beyond.
