Becky Baumwoll (USA) is an NYC-based artist, arts administrator, and educator originally from Massachusetts. She graduated from Tufts University magna cum laude with a degree in International Relations with a focus in Peace & Justice Studies, as well as a minor in StudioArt, and the Charles F. Seymour, Jr. Prize for business and theater arts. In 2011 Becky founded theater and education non-profit Broken Box Mime (BKBX), which has since mounted over ten original mainstage productions with a consistent ensemble cast, partnered with collaborators from MTV to the Alliance Francaise, visited schools throughout NYC, and toured nationally and internationally. She currently serves as BKBX's Artistic and Executive Director, as well as BKBX Education co-lead and performing company member. As a teacher, Becky develops curriculum with the International Rescue Committee, Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP), Opera on Tap, and Clowns Without Borders. Her work in nonverbal instruction began through an ASTEP partnership with unaccompanied minor sat Lutheran Social Services in the Bronx. She developed and taught three courses at the College of Performing Arts at The New School: Physical Storytelling, Languages of the Body, and The Whole Human Artist. Her professional development continues centrally through Arts Action Research and the various accessibility, diversity, and leadership cohorts at A.R.T./New York.
